GUYS.  I WROTE A BOOK.  And it feels so effing amazing!!!!!

When I went to bed last night I wanted to stay up so bad to finish.  I only had 941 more words to go, but I was totes exhausted and I had to be at work for 5am (lame, I know).  So today I knew I would hit 50 thousand words, and I was wicked excited to just come home and write!

50k words?  Pfft.  I’ve got 51’569 words.  It’s a truly terrible conglomeration of words, but they’re all mine, every one.  Take that, November.  I just chewed you up and spit you out like an unpopped popcorn kernel, and that’s the truth.

It wasn’t easy.  It was a little easier than writing my 2009 novel (that was the other year that I won), because I sort of knew where I was going with this one and the story is way better.  I had so many distractions, and this time I was working at a job where I couldn’t write at work, which complicated things.

Here’s a list of some of the things that distracted me from writing this November:

  • my husband (but to his credit, he tried really hard NOT to distract me)
  • YouTube
  • Tumblr
  • Swagbucks surveys and games (don’t judge me)
  • Pottermore (of COURSE you would unlock the last half of Chamber of Secrets for play while I’m trying to write a novel!)
  • my new iPhone with its awesome apps
  • Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II
  • and basically all of the internet

Take that, distractions.  I made the cut even with all your getting-in-the-way-ness.

Go me!  I’m a winner!

Now I can throw it away and start all over!  But that’s after I take a break for some days (or weeks) to spend some real time with my husband (because I’ve basically ignored his existence for the past 30 days), and also play Lord of the Rings Online as much as humanly possible.  Also I will read a book.  OMG I miss reading.

I’m so dang proud of myself.  What an amazing sensation that is!
